Wednesday

Had a doctor's appointment about an hour away, and Dad joined me for the ride. This was a follow-up for blood taken and medications prescribed exactly 4 weeks ago. I told her about my weight loss and healthy food journey, but she must have been skeptical. She seemed absolutely astonished that I had lost 14 pounds since seeing her last. (BTW, I must add, the scale at her office didn't indicate any appreciable loss this past week. I'm working my butt off, doing double workouts almost every single day! I'm pretty discouraged by that. I'll have to check in on Monday at the contest HQ and see if there's improvement.)

For the blood chemistry (from the sample from 4 weeks ago) I still have high cholesterol. So I have a few handouts about what to eat and what to avoid. She also has me taking fish oil supplements. The flax seed oil I have been taking doesn't have all the same Omegas in it, she said.

For lunch, we tried a Chinese restaurant under new ownership. I spent most of my time at the salad bar section enjoying fresh fruits and vegetables. They even had cherries! For protein, I had shrimp and clams. And, as is usual for me, I had to sample the wontons from the wonton soup. These were pretty good.

I took a nap in the afternoon and then went to the late water aerobics class. Sharon and I were the only students there. We noticed 2 ladies looking at us from the other end of the pool, so we waved them over. They joined in and we 4 had a really nice class with Chris. (She's a substitute... not sure who we'll have next time.) I stopped at the grocery store before heading home. I took the doctor's advice and picked up a small piece of salmon. I had that for dinner along with some steamed zucchini and cauliflower.

Right now, I'm considering trying water aerobics after work tomorrow. Doing Zumba after being on my feet for 6 hours was way too much for me. Perhaps the water aerobics will be more gentle to my joints. Sharon said she wouldn't be coming, but Carrie said she would. We'll see.

  1. Water aerobics sounds fun. Try not to be discouraged, I know it is easy when the scale isn't moving. Hang in there.
